Blue Morning Gallery
Located in the historic district of downtown Pensacola, the Blue Morning Gallery features works by 55 members, including award-winning artists. The gallery's offerings include paintings, collages, photography, ceramics, sculpture, glass, basketry, jewelry, and original dolls. It also features workshops that allow visitors to learn about their craft. The art center's mission is to showcase local artists and promote new artistic talent. The gallery began in 1997, when two artists leased a historic building on Adams Street, adjacent to Seville Square. The two decided to create a cooperative gallery where each artist pays monthly dues and gives 15 percent of sales to the nonprofit organization. The artists are required to donate at least 10 hours per month. The first year, the new owner leased the building from a retired couple. The owners remodeled the building to increase space, removing the kitchen and gallery classroom. However, the owners decided to keep the original gallery in business and opened the second location in the historic area.
Since its opening, the Blue Morning Gallery has been a fixture of the downtown art scene. It was one of the first coop galleries in the area. The art center's first permanent location was located in the historic Brent Building. The owner of the building, Mr. Aziz Al-Amiri, made arrangements to host a private event at the gallery. The reception was a success and was attended by hundreds of people. After the redevelopment, the Blue Morning Gallery was able to thrive and open a new location in One Palafox. The new home is also a part of the city's downtown arts scene.
